Read'em If You Got'em

My husband and I have a progressive 1950's relationship.

Although I fit pretty firmly in the housewife category, I also manage all our finances    with the exception of our taxes. The main part of that is the bill paying and budgeting. I pay everything in a timely manner, and let my husband know how much he can spend on things like beer and golf. In deference to a job well done, he stays out of my hair when he comes home and there's new throw pillows on the couch, or I'm wearing a new frock.

Recently things slowed down at my husband's work and he's wanting to be an active participant in things like; what's going on in our checking account. Namely, how much I'm spending on books....

It's my fault really. I hemmed and hawed about him getting his golf clubs regripped. In my defense, that's only because I wanted to get them done for father's day. When he got them regripped I was annoyed. So I complained about how much he's been spending on fancy beer.

Which is where I went wrong.

He immediately blind sided me with, "How about we track how much a month I spend on beer"    which is less than $50, I know for a fact, my hubbies not a huge drinker    "and we can track how much you spend on books"    definitely more than $50, and the tornado siren is going off in my head.

Abort!!! Abort conversation! Abort conversation!!!

After I flashed him my tits    important diversion maneuver    and the conversation moved on    to the bedroom    the panic died down and I was able to realize two important factors.

1. May, the beginning of which this all happened, is the last month of the school year for my son. Anyone with a kid knows this is also the end of season for little leagues, Cub Scouts, etc. and jammed packed with every awards ceremony, end of the year celebration, and rigmarole you can think of. The month begins with my son's b-day party and ends with me cursing being an involved parent. There is barely time for reading my email, let alone an enjoyable book.

2. I have a few books in my TBR pile, in paper form and on Inigo Montoya (my kindle) that I've been ignoring.

I may have a book buying problem

Okay, so I'm not only an avid reader, I'm a bit of a book hoarder.

I always get All Romance's updates with the newest of romance and erotica. Some of these covers are getting me into trouble. And all those sale prices are tantalizing. I need to stop downloading samples, and I NEED TO STOP buying books! At least until my TBR list starts dwindling down and my husband sees I've only spent $14.98 on books this month.

Yep, that's right. $14.98!!!

I have got this in the bag, I'm killin it!!

That's right, oh yeah! I've only spent $14.98

I have a lot of books on my wishlist, samples on my Kindle and TBR books already downloaded on my Kindle. I even bought Eloisa James new hist/rom in paperback while I was at the grocery store because 1; nostalgia and 2; it was cheaper than the e-price.

Anyways, I'm kind of overwhelmed. I'm practically drowning in books, not a bad place to be, but I thought it would be fun to share what I'm swimming in with all of you.

Books Read;

Vicky Dreiling What A Rogue Needs- Historical Romance, second in the series
Laura Bailey KEEP; The Kept Series- Holy smuttasims, it's dirty
Cherise Sinclair Edge Of The Enforcer- BDSM Erotica, (new favorite CS novel)
Cara Bristol Breeder 2 Terran- Sci-fi Erotic Romance
Saskia Walker Inescapable- British Erotica
Eloisa James Three Weeks With Lady X- Historical Romance
Maren Smith Chasing Chelsea-BDSM Spanking Erotic Romance
Celia Kyle He Ain't Lion- BBW Paranormal Erotica

I plan on writing reviews for the eroticas, I have my notes ready to go, but it may be June when that happens.

TBR;

Aleatha Romig Convicted (Consequences Book 3)- Psychological Thriller
Anna Zaires Close Liaisons (The Krinar Chronicles 1) -Sci-fi Rom
Casey McKay A Taste Of Discipline- Spanking Erotic Romance
9 Authors Alphas After Dark -9Book Bundle Erotic & Romance, I've read 3, all great so far
Vanessa Kier Vengeance- Action Suspense Romance
12 Authors Make Me; Twelve Tales of Dark Desire- Dark Erotica, I've read four, so far very good
Moira Rogers Wild Card (Down & Dirty #1)- Biker Erotica
Black, Shaw, Silverwood The Dom on the Naughty List-MFf BDSM

I also have 61 downloaded samples and growing. Sixty-freakin-one. I don't usually let that number get beyond thirty. I'm not sure what happened. I think a lot of series came into my life Jan-April and distracted me from all the new shinny books I wanted to check out. Those samples range from Look Me in the Eye: My Life With Aspergers to  Slavers Of The Amazon. Plus, I've made it a goal to read Outlander this summer. It's been one of those books I've been meaning to read for years now.

I think it's time.

Wish me luck. And happy reading everyone!!

Count Down Has Begun

This is another freebie that ended up with me buying the series. A series that is not done yet. The Gypsy Brothers MC series is proof I have no self control. The chick from this series is killing seven people. There is going to be seven books.

You'll know this from the synopsis. It's not a spoiler. The books are all around a hundred pages. It's a continuation series.

I know for a fact that this series, when completed, will be released in a box set that is much cheaper than me buying all the books individually.

That's just how it's done.

Yet I still can't help myself. I read all three stories out and now I'm anxiously awaiting the next book.

Seven Sons by Lili Saint Germain

102 pages

Warning: This is a dark romance that is heavy on the dark and light on the romance. Rape, violence, and murder are continuous themes.

My father was most certainly NOT an innocent man. As the leader of the Gypsy Brothers MC, he was guilty of many things. But he died for a crime he didn't commit, framed by an enemy who then stole his club and everything he had ever worked to protect.
Including my innocence.
When Dornan framed my father, he set into motion a series of events that could never be undone. My father was murdered by Dornan Ross and his sons when I was fifteen years old. Before he died, Dornan and his sons stole my innocence, branded my skin and in doing so, ensured that their lives would be prematurely cut short.
That they would suffer.
I've just turned twenty-one, and I'm out for blood. I'm out for revenge.
Have you ever read a Catherine Anderson novel? I've always said I would least want to be in a Catherine Anderson novel, because although they're all about hope and sunshine, one or both of the H/h always have a gruesome past. Super rapey, with death to family by watching them go off a cliff, and shit like that.

Lili Saint Germain has Catherine Anderson beat by a landslide. The heroine of the Gypsy Brothers series, Juliette, aka Sammi, has a gruesome-as-fuck past. And present. She could be described as a Catherine Anderson heroine that went rouge and became Buffy The Rapist Slayer. She's killing the crap out of the guys that did her wrong. And she's doing some fucked up twisted shit on her road to vengeance.

This series is not for the faint of heart. I received a very heated text from one of my besties about the seriousness of warning her before letting her read books in my Kindle library.

She's a bit traumatized.

I wasn't even sure how I felt about this series until I bought the next two book. I'm hooked. They're so messed up. Juliette is so insane. And that's just book one.

I'm emotionally invested in seeing how she does it, and if she actually gets away with it all.

I have lied.
I have cheated.
I have given my body and my life to a man who destroyed my family and left me for dead.
I have killed, I have sinned, and worst of all, I have enjoyed the misery of others.
I have licked the salty tears of a father mourning the death of his first born son, and nothing has ever tasted so sweet.
I have died and I have been resurrected, a phoenix from the ashes.
I know I'm going to hell. I'll burn in the fiery pits along side Dornan and his sons for the things I've done, and for things I'm about to do.
But I don't care. It will be worth every lick of the devil's flames on my guilty flesh to destroy Dornan Ross.
One down. Six to go.

Book 2, Six Brothers by Lili Saint Germain

95pages

People  might wonder why I'm doing this. If this vengeance is born from some noble cause, that I'm trying to prevent others from suffering at the hands of Dornan Ross and his sons.
But I'm no vigilante.
I'm doing it for me. I'm doing it because I want to. Because the look on Maxi and Chad's faces when I killed them was a balm to my soul.
This is the fate they have earned. The penance for their crimes.
          Two down, five to go.
Time to send some of these brothers off with a bang.

That's Leibster, Not Lobster

Thank you Casey McKay  for nominating me. For more of the fabulous sassy Casey McKay click here.

You may be wondering what the hell a Liebster is. The Liebster is this great award going around that helps us get to know our common interest community. And it promotes blogger/authors that have fewer than 1000 followers.

Rules of the Liebster are;

-Thank the person who nominated you, and post a link to their blog on your blog.
-Display the award on your blog.
-List the rules.
-Answer 11 questions given by the nominator.
-Provide 11 random facts about yourself.
-Nominate some bloggers you feel deserve the award.
-Create a new list of questions for the nominees to answer.
-Inform those you have nominated that they have been nominated for the Liebster.

Casey's Questions;

1.Why did you start blogging and what do you like about it?

In Feb/March of 2012 my immune system crashed. I had Epstein Barr Virus ruling my life. Countless infections. It was painful to eat. My right kidney atrophied. My body just shut down. I went from jogging three to five miles a day, doing yoga, pilates, volunteering for everything, trying to be supermom, to barely being able to make it to the back door to let the dogs out. I've since recovered but it's been a long journey back to wellness.

I've always been a big reader, but it became a huge escape for me. I was talking to a friend and asked her if there were any blogs that didn't just review books but discussed books and promoted the kind of books we loved. The darker, edgier books. She said she didn't know of any, and that I should write one.

That was my lightbulb moment. I started blogging for the same reason authors write books. I wanted to write about the stuff I wanted to be reading. And I wanted to promote the books I enjoyed reading. It's opened me up to a wonderful community and provided me with an outlet that I really needed.

2. What was the best vacation you ever went on?

Honestly? Better than the caribbean, better than Mexico, beaches, relaxation and massages was my last family vacation. My parents, brothers, and their entire families, all seventeen of us got together and went to Callaway Gardens in GA. We rented a huge villa, brought and made food there- family style. We barely slept all weekend. We just hung out, hiked, went zip lining.

It was the first time we were all together like that in over fifteen years. I tear up just thinking about it.

3. What is your guiltiest pleasure?

Dark chocolate and Diet Coke. I have Meniere's Disease, (thanks immune system fail) so I can no longer have caffeine or I get vertigo. Bad. I'm a decaf gal now. So, every once and a while I'll make my husband order a Diet Coke and drink some of his. And sometimes I eat some dark chocolate, knowing at any point in the 24 hours after I may be paying for it, bigtime.

4. If you could have one superpower, what would it be?

Um, self healing, of course. Although, being able to heal others would be great too.

5. What book have you read that impacted your life the most?

Lion's Lady, by Julie Garwood. Due to an unethical eye doctor, my parents didn't know I was basically legally blind until I was eight years old. Because of this I was slow to learning how to read. It was a struggle. I was behind all the students in my class. I hated reading. It made me feel like...less.

I was about twelve, when my mother told me the author of her book hadn't learned how to read until she was eleven. In my mind my mother was the most intelligent woman ever created. For her to enjoy a book by an author that couldn't even read until she was eleven was amazing to me. I had to read it. I stole it from her shelves and read it. I adored it.

Thus began my love affair with literature. And nauty literature.

6. You have an unexpected 30 minutes of free time- what are you doing?

LOL, reading or napping

7. If you could give your younger self one piece of advice, what would it be?

Take the epidural, get a fucking breast pump, and hand your husband the baby. Don't try to be hero. He's a parent also. Getting up to feed the baby is good for him.

8. You are stuck on a deserted island, but have unlimited access to one meal. What is that meal?

Beef, rice, salad, rolls, fresh water, and bourbon pecan bars for dessert.

9. If you could time travel to any period in time, when would it be?

Ummm, I'm going to say 2075. Or 2182. Definitely the future.

10. If you had unlimited time and unlimited funds, what would you like to learn to do?

How to play the piano. How to raise cattle, and horses. How to ride horses. Start a ranch.

I would also like to be proficient in business, specifically numbers and investing, so that I could be better equipped to argue with my husband.

I'd also learn carpentry, get my real estate licence and home inspection licence.

11. What is your happiest memory?

Pffft. Shit....Telling my husband I was pregnant.

It was a surprise. I wasn't ready. I was crying hysterically. I showed him all three sticks (I kept thinking they had to be wrong) and wailed, "Our lives are ruined!!!"

It's a happy memory because I now know exactly how much our world changed since that moment. Our time of grand selfish indulgence was in fact ruined. We've learned, we've grown, we've become better versions of us. I'm not sure if we would have gotten here without our kid.

Now 11 Random Me Facts;

1. No matter how much research I do, I still don't know how to properly use affect/effect.

2. I've lived in Wisconsin and the south. I usually don't have an accent, but sometimes I fluctuate between southern and yuper accents.  I often don't notice it until I'm mid speech. By then, it's too late.

3. I have an irrational fear of the number 13. Yet, I secretly wonder if it's actually my lucky number.

4. I was a licenced massage therapist and practiced holistic healing for ten years. I enjoyed it at the time, but I don't miss it.

5. July is my two year marking period for being cigarette free. I still have days I would wrestle a homeless man, covered in his own piss, for a puff of a smoke. I have gallantly refrained.

6. I have serious anxiety making left turns without a light. I will drive out of my way to catch a light, instead of having to make a left turn without one.

7. I have to buy special medicated shampoo because I'm allergic to regular stuff.

8. I was afraid of cats almost my entire life. When I was a teen I overcame my fear and I took in a rescue cat named Tommy. He was with me for fifteen years before going to the big litter box in the sky.

9. I have to wait at least one hour after I eat a meal before I can orgasm.

10. I often listen to hardcore rap by groups like N.W.A. when I workout. And I turn it down when I walk or jog past people, so they don't know that's what I'm listening to on my ipod.

11. I smoked for over fifteen years but my brother that smokes is the only person in my family that knew I smoked. When I visited family I'd go without while I was in town.

Okay, that's me. I nominate Tracy St. John, Craving Erotic Romance, and Katrina Strauss. You can nominate 5-11 bloggers. Make sure to link me, and let me know when you post.

Your questions are;

1.What was the subject of your most popular blog post?
2.What's your favorite thing about yourself?
3. If you could have dinner with anyone past, present, or future, who would it be?
4. What is your biggest flaw?
5. Did you go to the prom, and if so, what did you wear?
6. Wax, shave, or natural?
7. What is the most memorable book you've ever read?
8. What's your favorite thing you've ever written? It can be a character, line,  book, post, etc. What was it?
9. First car?
10. Favorite memory?
11. What is your happy place?

Don't forget to write 11 random facts about yourself.

Calling All FoKs

Can you read my boobs? That's Friends Of Kalquor!!
You know who you are!

After a year in the works, and hitting more snags than an afghan in a bramble bush, Clan Honor and Empire is FINALLY published!!!!

This comes as a huge relief. Getting Clan Honor and Empire published, even after it was finished, hit saga levels. I was beginning to worry Tracy St. John was going to tear out her hair and start riding empty train cars with hobos. Her mental well being was in question.

Soap opera music played every time Clan Honor and Empire was brought up.

It was freaky.

But the storm is finally over, and I've seen the rainbow my fellow FoKs

It. Is. Glorious.

Clan, Honor, and Empire by Tracy St. John

421 pages

Warning; Devastatingly hot alien cock in multiples,  m/m/m, bdsm elements. Intended for a naughty mature audience.

I always enjoy Tracy St. John books, but a few really grab a hold of me and make me feel as giddy as a schoolgirl with her first crush. I'm happy to report Clan Honor and Empire is one of those books for me.

My doodling skills really peeked in junior high

I think this story is going to be a real treat for her fans. It certainly was for me. I'm really excited for everyone to read it. I also believe that if this were the first Tracy St. John someone was picking up, it's the kind of book that would make the reader want to buy her other books.

 A few things really stood out in this book's overall awesomeness;

-The book is 25 years before Alien Embrace during Rajhir's playboy phase. They are new adults, but if anyone refers to this as a New Adult sci-fi I will hunt you down. The guys felt fresh and new. Also, this felt like Rajhir's story and I was really rooting for him to find himself and his clan.

-The guys obsession with women is pronounced. Unexpectedly this did something for me, and made the book more than just another reason for me to be sad I didn't have a prostate. That was something I loved about Tranis (To Clan and Conquer). His absolute fascination with women. Seeing this again, but with all the guys really tripped my trigger. This is brought up throughout Clan Honor and Empire and made me enjoy the delicious man sex all the more.

I mean really. They are going to clan women. So it's nice to reminded while they're having hot sweaty mangasms, they'd give up the prostate stroking in favor of a lady they love.

In. A. Heartbeat.

I need those bi moments that proclaim, 'yes my book boyfriend has a boyfriend, but he really does love pussy even more!'.

-The sex in this book is incendiary. And plentiful. I think the sex was in perfect proportion to the story, but if you end up reading this one with your book in one hand and the vibrator in the other I wouldn't judge you. At all.

These things happen.

-The Gegra, Nivere, Astef, Utim side saga. Was so invested in this. You will get angry, you will cry, and then you will bust a gut laughing. In the end your heart will be so happy.

-Glimpses and teases of some of our favorite characters as younglings. This made me hungry for all the books Tracy is working on right now. Did you know Egilka is seventeen years older than Clajak and their clanning was arranged, so he was a part of raising Clajak?

Yeah, I now need to know everything about their relationship.

At some point he goes from big brother to I want to be your lovaahh, and I want all the dirty details!!

-The exchanges between all the characters are often humorous in an offbeat way. It really gives the characters life.

-Bloody savage Nobek moment. I adore it when they go all savage beast and tear people limb from limb. I don't know why. It satisfies my soul in a way I myself do not understand.

-I had forgotten Breft is one of my all time favorite characters. This book reminded me of all the reasons why.

-The story is outstanding. It's a great story. I was very disappointed when I had to attend to life and sleep. I laughed, I got turned on, I cried then I did it all again.

I wanted to applaud at the end of this book like I was at the movies. And yes, I'm one of those people that applaud after a good movie.

Outstanding job Tracy St. John!

****

Now, while I have all you FoKs here, for a little fun with titles. I often entertain myself, while away from a book I'm enjoying, by thinking up what the title would be if it were in another genre.

Here are some Kalquor genre title mashups;

And btw, I suck donkey dong at making mock cover text. I apologize in advance for the low rate fontage.

As my husband says, just go with it.

Alien Rule as a Regency Romance

Alien Embrace as a Regency Romance
Captive Matarra would also work

Sister Katherine as a Regency

Clan and Conquer as a Contemporary or Regency

Clan and Conquer as a Sport Themed Contemporary
Inspired by Tranis's love of kurble

Clan and Conquer and/or Clan and Conviction as a Regency

As Contemporary

Okay, Clan Honor and Empire as a regency would be The Reluctant Dramok or;

CHE as a Contemporary
Doesn't he make a yummy Breft?

CHE as a New Adult (b/c I just had to)
I could do this all day

Okay go forth and read!

And if you have your own genre titles for any of your favorite Kalquor books please share with the group!!!

Doggy Stigma

I read some sweet romance. Historical and contemporary. I like them. They're wholesome and it's fun reading about how the other half fantasy fuck. I was reading The Cowboy's E-Mail Order Bride by Cora Seton -a very enjoyable romance- when I remembered quite a few women don't doggy.

Our hero of this book, Ethan asks our heroine Autumn, "Is this all right?" after he turns her on her tummy in preparation for some loving. I honestly had a 'whoa, is he going to stick it in her butt?' moment.

You know if it was an erotic novel, he'd only be asking in reference to breaching old rosy.

Then I realized, oh yeah, not all women are comfortable with not having face to face sex. It's considered animalistic. Base. Which is a shame, because 'doggy style' really is my favorite position.

This made me wonder about some of the reasons women could be opting out of the awesomeness that is doggy style. I think one of the largest reasons is the imagery the word 'doggy' creates.

No woman wants to feel like a dog -outside of puppy play, that is.

The word really does promote a sense of being used. The word bitch is often associated with dog in reference to a woman. It doesn't scream positive affirmations that's for sure.

which is just sad

We're animals too, it makes sense

In my sadness for these misguided women missing out, I thought of some names that could change the stigma behind doggy style.

Orgasm Style
aka; G-Spot Stroking Position

Reverse Missionary
If there can be a Reverse Cowgirl, there can be a Reverse Missionary

Face Down Ass Up
Of course

HotSpot Hitter
Why wouldn't you want that?

Spooning Style
It's just one step further than cuddling

Lion Style
Cause, you know, that's fierce

I believe sex was meant to be had in many positions. Why would it feel so good if we weren't supposed to do it?

I just had sex in three different positions last night. And none of them were face to face to my husband. Although, I know for a fact he was there.

He was a pivotal component to the sex.

We see each other all the time. Why do we need to soul gaze while buffing? And really, do you know how hard it is to get your ass slapped and your hair pulled in the missionary position?

Wait... Not all women like ass slapping and hair pulling either? Well, what the fuck is wrong with people?!? It's like they don't even want to enjoy sex.
